Niche Dating Site of the Week: DateMyPet.com

by @ 1:21 am. Filed under Niche Dating, Site of the Week

At your most dating sites coming across a dog is not usually a good thing. But at DateMyPet, the site where you will find all kinds of dogs and other animals too, it is. This is a dating site for pet lovers of all types. If you are not looking for a date but an activity partner for your pet, you can do that too.

How many times has a relationship not worked out do to you having a pet that the other person doesn’t care for? This will not be a problem when using this site according to Robert Yau, the CEO of DateMyPet:

Speaking to the singles, it surprised me how many of their dates and relationships ended because the other partner was not compatible with their love for their pets. These range from ‘she hated my dog’s drooling’ to ‘he is allegic to my cat’ and the classic ‘he thinks I’m crazy because I treat them like babies’. When the decision came to choose between the partner or the pet – it was a no brainer for the majority. The pet won.

So here we are, “if you want to date me, you have to date my pet”. Thats the drive behind this website. If you knew first hand that a person is a pet lover, it would make things a lot easier. That is a strong link that can be built upon.

A basic membership to the site is Free. This will allow you to post photos and reply to messages but if you would like to send messages you need to opt for the premium membership. If you are a pet lover then click on over and check them out.

DateMyPet, the niche dating site where your love life being for the birds or having gone to the dogs may actually be a positive thing.

Niche Dating Site of the Week: Fitness-Singles.com

by @ 4:08 pm. Filed under Niche Dating, Site of the Week

Last weeks site was focused on golf. This week is more about fitness in general. Do you have an active lifestyle? Does running, bodybuilding, dance, canoeing, rock climbing or yoga sound good to you? People who like these and many other active activities and are looking for partners can be found at Fitness Singles. They say they are the place, “Where relationships work out”.

You can search for people based on the types of sports and activities they like, along with all the other normal dating site search criteria. Looking through some of the profiles you definitely won’t find your proverbial coach potato here. If that is your thing then you should look elsewhere.

Fitness Singles was officially launched on August 18, 2003. The reasoning behind starting the site is:

The site provides a fun, private and secure environment to meet sports and fitness enthusiasts seeking relationships ranging from activity partners to romance. We believe relationships who are compatible in their fitness and health activities have a better chance of succeeding because anything you do together that you both enjoy is bonding.

So, if you would rather be working out than sitting here reading this, then Fitness Singles might just be the online dating service for you.

Niche Dating Site of the Week: GolfMates.com

by @ 12:19 am. Filed under Niche Dating, Site of the Week

I love to play golf. So when the idea of niche dating sites came to mind, my first thought was, I wonder if there are any golf related online dating sites? Turns out there are. GolfMates was the first one I found.

According to the site there are five reasons why golf is the perfect first date:

  1. It is one of the few sports men and women can truly enjoy together.
  2. It is a safe, daytime, outdoor activity that is usually played in groups of four.
  3. There is plenty of time to socialize between shots.
  4. It comes to an end after 9 or 18 holes. If you are compatible with your golfmate, the clubhouse is a perfect place to continue the date. If you are not compatible with your golfmate, the end of a round is a comfortable way to end the date.
  5. Common interest in golf. Having a common interest with a prospective mate greatly reduces the pressure of having to create conversation.

GolfMates was launched officially on May 5, 2004. The people behind GolfMates want golf to be considered as an enjoyable dating activity. As of now posting your profile on the site is free.

While the site has birdie potential, it is presently over par. This however could be remedied with more golfers finding out about the site, so hopefully this helps in some small way. There were only 21 female golfers of all ages in my state. With the limited selection of golfers on the site, maybe you won’t find the love of your life but you may find some potential playing partners in your area. Although back on Dec. 31, 2004 a couple that met on GolfMates got married. So you never know.

Niche Dating Site of the Week: FarmersOnly.com

by @ 12:33 am. Filed under Niche Dating, Site of the Week

City folks just don’t get it!

That is the tag line for FarmersOnly. The dating site for farmers, ranchers, agriculturist, cowboys, cowgirls, animal owners, outdoor enthusiasts, small town and country folks or those looking for them.

Jerry Miller, the founder says:

There are basically two groups in America. Group one, their life revolves around four dollar cups of coffee, taxis cabs, blue suits, high heels, conference rooms and getting ahead at all costs in the corporate world. If you fall into this group you’re probably in the wrong place. Group two, enjoys blue skies, wide open spaces, raising animals, appreciating nature and are generally friendly to everyone. This group makes up Americas Heartland. This is not a geographic area, this is a slice of America with traditional values, that all started with the farmer.

So he started an online dating website geared for Group Two. There are plenty of dating and matchmaking websites for Group One. Trying to meet someone is hard enough. Working the hours a farmer does and probably being out in the middle of nowhere has got to be even tougher. I would guess that the dating pool in small town America is just that, small. That is the beauty of the Internet, the ability to meet people from just about anywhere.

FarmersOnly was launched on May 15, 2005. Presently there are 253 women and 161 men with postings on the site. As of now membership on the site is free. So if you like your towns small and your farms big, you might want to check it out.
