Jason Griffin ReGoogles Himself

by @ 2:01 pm. Filed under Miscellaneous

A year ago today I Googled myself for the first time. No, it’s not what you’re thinking. I had read an article about how online daters search Google for information on potential dates before meeting them. So with that in mind I wanted to know if I met a woman via online dating here in Seattle and they did this, what would they find?

Back then the only thing that was related to me on the first page of results was an article that points to my golf site. Today when I typed jason griffin into Google and hit the search button I found the results have changed a bit. The golf article has been pushed to the bottom of the results on page two.

But, now my previous post, Jason Griffin Googles Himself, is the second result of about 8,340,000 possible. That is more what I was looking for as I wanted to crack the top ten with something that would provide a potential date some info about me.

So, how have things changed? Here is what I found on the first page of results when searching Google for jason griffin today:

As for the second page of results you will find the aforementioned golf article, a link to my site TVaholic and the printable version of Jason Griffin Googles Himself. As of today I have seven links in the top 30 when a search for jason griffin is done at Google. That is not to bad. I wonder if this page will rank for jason griffin someday at Google too. Hopefully it will bump result number 10 of the first page.

On the last post I heard from a Jason Griffin in Macon, GA, one in New Zealand and another in Texas who left word in the comments. I guess I am not the only Jason Griffin Googling himself. Have you searched for yourself in Google? Looked up a potential date? What did you find?

Happy Birthday eWooing

by @ 6:58 pm. Filed under Miscellaneous

I can’t believe that I posted the first post on this online dating site a year ago. I started by signing up for eHarmony two years ago now. After a year and a few dates I thought this might make an interesting topic for a blog. So I registered the domain name and started on my way.

This was my first blog. It started off pretty well. I think I posted like 40 days in a row or something. I came up with a few ideas like writing about all niche-dating sites that were popping up all over and adding a little commentary to the weekly news in the world of online dating. Since I have started two others: TVaholic and The Brown Chronicles.

eWooing Online Dating Site Re-Starts

by @ 1:46 am. Filed under Miscellaneous

Well I think this online dating blog has set idle long enough. I started a second one, TVaholic, and spent my time the last few months working on it. But it is time to give this site a little time again also. So semi-regular posting should resume soon as shall a couple of posting ideas that have been sitting on the old to-do list. The first thing is getting through a backlog of news articles and other online dating blog posts to get my feet wet again.

For those that have read articles here in the past or have happened along eWooing recently, is there any topics in the realm of online dating that you would like to know about? Information you are looking for? Any areas of online dating you are looking for tips about? Let us know in the comments and maybe they will get added to that to-do list.

Online Dating as a Christmas Gift

by @ 4:59 pm. Filed under eHarmony, Miscellaneous

What do you think about the gift of online dating for the Christmas Holiday Season? Is this a good idea? I think it can be but take some time and think about whom this might be a good gift option for. You shouldn’t start handing out gift subscriptions for online dating to just anyone. You might want to consider …

… do you know this person well?

If you do and maybe even the topic of trying out an online dating service has come up in conversation then this could be a great gift idea. I would only recommend giving to a really close friend or relative. Otherwise the gift may seem a bit on the personal side. You don’t want to be telling someone that you don’t really know you really need help in this area. Remember that if it is the thought that counts, you don’t want them to get the wrong idea about what you are thinking about them. You need to use a little tact in this area.

Where can you find online dating gift memberships?

Well, many of the large online dating sites offer gift subscriptions or memberships. These allow you to purchase usually a one, three, six or twelve month plan. Remember though that the longer the plan you purchase the worse the gift may come off when received. I would probably choose the three-month option, as it doesn’t seem overly long. It does take a little while to get used to how the process works on a given online dating site, so a one-month subscription may be on the short side.

Perfectmatch offers a link on their front page to buy gift memberships. I have read that Yahoo! Personals was going to be offering a gift program but can’t find any information about it on their site. Other online dating sites also offer gift options. They don’t always seem to be readily apparent. So you may need to look around a bit.

For me though, I would suggest a gift subscription to eHarmony as this is one of the online dating sites I presently use myself. I have yet to “find the love of my life” using it but many have and it could be just the right gift for that person who needs a gentle nudge into the world of online dating. It is easy for someone new to get overwhelmed with a large site like Match.com where you can search through thousands of profiles. At eHarmony you are only able to converse with people the system matches you with. They also have a good-guided communication process to help you get connected with your matches. This makes it an ideal gift for someone new to online dating as well as it being a very well known site.

Give someone the gift that has the potential to keep on giving, the gift of love and companionship. What a great Christmas gift that could be?
