A Few Interesting Articles About Online Dating

by @ 4:54 pm. Filed under In the News, Week In Review

The eWooing Week In Review, some articles about online dating or related stories that might be of interest from the past week. There were a lot to read and only a few that were really worth anything. So here are five online dating articles for your perusal. Enjoy!

Meet Internet Daters: The Never-Ending Casting Session

Some funny little online dating anecdotes. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, online dating is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get.

SINGEL BOUND

A ring for single people to let other people know you are single and looking. What do you think? Would you where a ring like this?

Is technology replacing humanity?

This is an interesting question. In some ways we maybe are. Like the listening to an iPod or something instead of interacting with the people around you or talking on a Cell phone instead of with people around you. On the other hand, something like online dating is meant to help facilitate a face to face meeting. A way to find other people that have similar interests or are compatible in some way.

Starbucks, Yahoo! Cross-Market Personals

Find a date, grab a lattte. It’s Esspresso Dating with Yahoo! Personals and Starbucks Coffee. I mentioned this last week also but it is worth mentioning again as you can get a $10 Starbucks gift card when you sign up with Yahoo! Personals through February 19th. Read the guide. Meet some people. Buy some coffee.

Cupid deserves more respect

A look at online dating versus a blind date. To me they seem very similar. Except supposedly the person putting the two of you together knows something about both of you.

  1. Jane Ross Says:

I complained to christiancafe.com that I wrote to a man who later told me his membership had lapsed and that’s why he hadn’t replied. I said I thought they should not leave profiles of unpaid members visible because they can’t get mail written to them.

This is part of christiancafe.com’s reply:

“Some expired paid members also want to leave their profiles up until they decide what to do. We have found that 90 days doesn’t pressure anyone. On the other hand, it is also enough time to make up your mind… Most other sites keep expired profiles on view forever.”

In internet time, ninety days is a long, long time for someone to be visible who isn’t available.

Is it true that most sites are loaded with people who aren’t really active or interested?
