Musings, tips and the occasional rant from the world of online dating.
The eWooing Week In Review, some articles about Internet dating or related stories that might be of interest from the past week. Some news and views you can use to help you in your search. We read a lot of them and post links to ones that are worth a read. Here are four articles for your perusal. Enjoy!
Niche dating sites match habits, pets, disabilities
The article talks about the rise of niche dating sites. If there is a group then there is probably a niche dating site just for them. Look for the Niche Dating Site of the Week here at eWooing every Monday.
Bachelor pad: Dating scams prey on the lonely – and the stupid
More than anything else I liked the title of the article. Talks about internet dating scams that try to lure men into porn sites. Tip: If a woman sends you to their so called personal website and to enter it you have to fork over your credit card info then she is probably not a real person. Just bait to lure the lonely and stupid.
Lawsuits accuse online dating sites of deceptive practices
Yahoo! Personals and Match.com have been sue recently. They are accused of things like setting up fake profiles and sending employees out on fake dates to keep people signed up and to improve their statistics to make their site seem better than they are. I hope these turn out to be false or at least isolated cases of individuals and not unstated company policies. That would be a terrible development for an industry that has just in the last couple of years started to take off with the general public.
Sweetheart, You’re a Real Work of Art
Russiam woman artist posts self portraits of herself on internet dating sites and then gathers the email responses to display next to the pieces in galleries and art shows.

With all the news about dating scams on the Internet, and with all the news reports about people beaten, abused, and taken for their money, we at the Corra Group are puzzled that more people are not checking out their Mr. or Ms. Possible, before they enter into a relationship. For those of us with assets and property, money in the bank, there is so much to lose, starting with simple cons and identity theft and ending, unfortunately, with physical abuse or loss of life. Romance is tough enough as it is, without getting off on the wrong foot with the wrong person. For the price of a couple of lattes you can run a comprehensive background check and make sure they are who they say they are. Before you have one more sad story to tell, check them out before you date them.
